Ing. arch. Tereza Červená and Ing. arch. Jakub Svitek are the founders of the Czech-Slovak architectural studio ČERVENÁSVITEK.
The friendship between the two founders has become inseparably intertwined with their architectural work, allowing them to design in various cities and regions of their home countries. The duo is united by a shared passion for space, technology, and bringing ideas to life.
Architect Tereza Červená says she enjoys combining the artistic side with technical and rational thinking. A well-designed project should evoke emotion while also functioning effectively; the interior must be thoughtfully planned to ensure a comfortable living experience without impractical or overlooked elements.
ČERVENÁSVITEK’s projects include comprehensive designs and renovations for everything from forest cabins to urban interiors in Prague and Bratislava, as well as family and apartment homes. As they put it, the specific space or type of project matters less to them than the type of client they work with.
The ideal client has an open mind.
During the first, non-committal consultation, the architects work to understand the client’s ideas and wishes, while the client likewise determines whether working with them feels right. According to Tereza Červená, it is essential for clients to select an architect with whom they have mutual understanding and trust.
When a client brings an idea, it’s important to take a broad view of the project, pointing out any potential challenges that may arise. At the same time, it’s vital to envision how a familiar space might look completely different. Often, the architects propose an unconventional vision that the client hadn’t considered before, but ultimately they are thrilled and find themselves living much better than before.
The collaboration is quite intensive. During multiple consultations, the architects present various solution options to come up with a design that makes living enjoyable and excites the client. Only when the client is enthusiastic about the design do they proceed with construction documentation, and then building begins. The architects oversee the project until the very end.
People often underestimate how demanding this process is—the many aspects to manage, monitor, organize, and plan—from the initial layout to selecting materials and colors, fixtures, and every detail throughout construction.
